Family Office

Family businesses represent 70%-80% of the world´s enterprises, generating between 50% and 75% of wealth in the majority of countries. The Family-Office is an instrument helping families in 3 key areas: articulate relations in between family members, profitability and professional management of their wealth.
Starting five centuries ago, the great dynasties of wealthy merchants founded their own private banks. In 1838 the Morgan family created the so-called "House of Morgan" to manage their family estate, probably the first single Family-Office (SFO) in history. In 1882 the Rockefeller family founded its own Family-Office, allowing other families to participate, and giving birth to the concept of multi-Family Office (MFO).

The problem that most wealthy families face is precisely failing to preserve that wealth over time. Studies show that 70% of families fail to preserve their wealth beyond the second generation and 90% fail to preserve it beyond the third generation.
What is the reason behind such a grim prospect? According to The Heritage Institute UK, lack of communication and trust among family members is the main factor in 60% of cases.
